When a coworker approached me with an idea for a D&D 5E actual play podcast he wanted to run with several of his other friends, I had only one question: “Have any of you even PLAYED Dungeons & Dragons before?” Fortunately, the answer was “NOPE,” because that meant I’d been given another opportunity to introduce new players to the world’s greatest roleplaying game!
Balancing my creative muscles as an adviser to a fresh Dungeon Master and new Player Characters with an active role as a PC was a lot of fun; more importantly, though, it marks the beginning of my crusade to find innovative ways to explain and reframe D&D’s rules in a beginner-friendly light.
